Roppongi Yoshinkan Aikido

Roppongi Yoshinkan Aikido - Beginners Welcome!

Get Ready for Kangeiko 2012!

This year's early morning training kicks off on Monday, February 6th.

Every weekday morning (7AM to 8AM) we'll do a different technique until we finish with kotegaeishi on Friday, February 17th. It's a great way to focus on your Aikido and get a jump start on your training in 2012.

Come on out and get your sweat on! See you on the mats!

Aikido is a modern martial art derived from the Samurai fighting techniques of ancient Japan. Developed during the 1020s, the technical foundations of Aikido can be traced back to Aiki-jujutsu which evolved in early Japan.

Aikido is not a conventional fighting art or sport. Instead, it is a martial art which develops the ability to harmonize with opposing forces rather than combat them. Because of this, many circular and spherical movements are involved in Aikido to redirect opposing forces towards a less harmful destination.

The Roppongi Yoshinkan Aikido dojo welcomes beginners to join any class.

Regular Classes: Tue/Thu 7AM - 8AM & Sun 9AM - 11AM
Kids Classes: Sun 9AM - 11AM
Sign up fee: 10,000yen
Annual membership: 10,000yen
Monthly fee: 10,000yen

There is also a Kali class on Friday from 7PM to 8:30PM

Although beginners may start at any time in any class, we do set beginner courses throughout the year - watch this space for upcoming courses!

Michael Stuempel

Sign up / Login to Showcase Central to see member profile I am a misplaced Canadian now making my home and my life in Tokyo. I am a yondan in Yoshinkan Aikdio and a graduate of the International Yoshinkan Aikido Instructor's course. I am married with 2 children.

I came to Tokyo in 1993 to participate in the 1993-94 International Yoshinkan Aikido Instructor's course (The Senshusei Course) and stayed at the dojo in 1994-1995 to assist in the instruction of the next senshusei course. This was the year that Robert Twigger participated in the course which he then based his best selling novel "Angry White Pyjamas" on.

I became a part-time instructor at the Yoshinkan Honbu Dojo in 1995 and remained there until 1999.

In August 2001 Roland Thompson Sensei and I formed the Roppongi Yoshinkan Dojo and I am still there.

My life is simple. I enjoy my family. I enjoy my work. I enjoy Aikido.

Please feel free to email us with any questions or thoughts that you might have. We also welcome beginners of all ages, shapes and sizes as well as people visiting from other dojos.

Osu!
